On 16 April, the Las Abejas Civil Society held a preaudience of the People’s Permanent Tribunal (TPP) in Acteal, Chenalhó, Chiapas. The TPP has indicated the 1997 Acteal massacre to be one of the emblematic cases of processes involving state violence, in addition to structural and systemic violence, from within their treatment of the subjects of migration, refugeeism, forced displacement, and dirty war, impunity, and state violence.

The event formed part of the 15-year commemoration of this massacre that shocked Mexico and the world on 22 December, with a total of 49 killed (4 of them unborn), 33 of them being women (19) and girls (14), all of them displaced indigenous persons pertaining to the Las Abejas Civil Society.
The TPP was founded in Rome, Italy in 1979. It is the longest-standing ethical and conscious tribunal that is recognized globally.
