Chiapas: Arbitrary detention and torture in Benemérito de Las Américas; one dies while in municipal police custody

According to a report from the Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center (CDH Frayba), on Saturday, August 9 at around 7:00 pm, José Gómez Estrada and Remigio Hernández Arellano were arbitrarily detained by 4 municipal police officers from Benemérito de las Américas, Chiapas. Later, as reported by the CDH Frayba, both men were tortured for a period of 2 hours while they were irregularly held in the municipal jail. José Gómez Estrada died while in municipal police custody.
