Chiapas: the Morelia JBG denounces destruction of house by ORCAO

In its most recent communiqué, the Good-Government Council (JBG) Rainbow of Hope from the Morelia Zapatista caracol denounced that on 17 August in the community of Patria Nueva, region Primero de Energo, autonomous municipality Lucio Cabañas, the Regional Organization of Coffeegrowers of Ocosingo (Orcao) committed new aggressions, when some 150 persons destroyed a house of EZLN support-bases that served as a communal kitchen for national and international observers.

Later there arrived a worker with excavation machinery while, according to the communiqué, “the ORCAO militants were protecting it and continued with their death-threats against Zapatistas, using machetes or guns.”  Later, says the Junta, the ORCAO members formed 7 groups, using cell phones to communicate.  The communiqué notes that “we saw that the governments have it well-planned to provoke our comrades.”

In the same denunciation, the JBG indicates as well that on 10 July were assaulted in Ocosingo two photographers from the Morelia caracol: near the end of the Ocosingo-Altamirano route, three individuals forced them to board their white Tsuru car, which lacked license plates.  They were taken to the Sauzal neighborhood, where the two succeeded in escaping.
