Ángel Aguirre Rivero, March 2012 @ SIPAZ
On numerous occasions in recent weeks, Ángel Aguirre Rivero, governor of Guerrero, has been accused by reporters for TV Azteca and Televisa of promoting nepotism and corruption. As a result, Aguirre cleaned the nomination of his direct relatives, although other media had been engaging in these critiques for months, without any corresponding response. In a press-conference granted at his office in Acapulco, the governor informed his audience of 10 changes in his cabinet, among these Martha Elba Garzón Bernal for the position of State Attorney General. Similarly, he dismissed Ernesto Aguirre Gutiérrez, from Strategic Projects, and his sister Rosalinda Aguirre Rivero, who was the director of the System for the General Development of the Family (DIF). The governor said that it is probable that other changes and adjustments be experienced; he noted that the news has to do in some cases with improvement and strengthening of some areas. He recognized that in other cases there were relatives who “I had said that I would remove, like Ernesto Guerrero, and my sister Rosalinda Aguirre, among those I can recall.”
In other news, during his visit to the Montaña region of Guerrero, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, progressive presidential candidate, expressed to Governor Aguirre that he is “not alone” in light of the attacks of the TV reporters. Furthermore, he assured that in case of winning the presidency of the Republic, he would strengthen the rural normal schools of the country, including that in Ayotzinapa, beyond assuring that repression against students would not exist.
