On 6 and 7 October, collectives, organizations, and individuals carried out in Oaxaca City the “II Forum against Political Prison and for the Liberty of ÁLVARO SEBASTIÁN RAMÍREZ,” known as “Comandante Teacher” who has been imprisoned, it has been denounced, for being a presumed member of the Revolutionary Popular Army. In a final pronunciation, participants expressed their solidarity with those who find themselves imprisoned for reasons of ideology and social activism, “subjected to acts of repression and degradation for this reason.” They denounced the use of “montages that criminalize protest by means of the making-equivalent of social and political struggle with terms such as terrorism, conspiracy, or criminal association.” Similarly, they condemned the irregular juridical processes exercised against social activists like Álvaro Sebastián, as well as Francisco Santiz (Zapatista support-base), Rosario Díaz, and Alberto Patishtán (these latter two being members of the Voz del Amate, a prisoners’ organization that adheres to the Other Campaign) or the prisoners of San Sebastián Bachajón in Cerezos no. 17, 16 y 14 in the state of Chiapas.
