On 14 December, 11 indigenous individuals from Santo Domingo Yosoñama, in the Mixteca region of Oaxaca, were killed in an ambush undertaken by unknown assailants from the community of San Juan Mixtepec, according to denunciations from the authorities of the municipal agency of Yosoñama.

The origin of the massacre has to do with agrarian conflict: due to lack of available lands, the two communities have been confronting each other for 70 years.

Dionisio Ventura González, commissioner of the commons of Santo Domingo Yosoñama, affirmed that the option for vengeance is out of the question, demanding justice for the 11 murdered persons instead.  In this way, he offered a dialogue to attempt to resolve the conflict.
