On 7 April, the webpage of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) suffered a cyberattack, after automated programs launched thousands of simultaneous petititons to saturate the site and take it down.  Tellingly, some days before the attack, the EZLN had organized the Seminar on “Critical Thought amidst the Capitalist Monster” to be held at the beginning of May in Chiapas.  The registration and details for participation are found right on the website.

In the communique that announces the event, entitled “The Storm, The Sentinel, and the Lookout Syndrome,” Subcomandante Insurgente Galeano let it be known that the meeting would take place from 3 to 9 May, and that it would seek to promote an “exchange of ideas” and a “seedbank of critical ideas, analyses, and thoughts about how this capitalist system is working,” because “in all words there are critical words that ask about what is happening, why, what we are doing, how, and all these other things that are thought about within theory.”
