In a statement published on July 9, relatives of Alexander Martínez Gómez, a young man murdered on June 9 by a municipal police officer from Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa, denounced having received threats, harassment, which they claim derive from their “demand for truth and justice. in the context of criminal violence and impunity that prevails in the municipality”. They warned about the fact that “these incidents represent a real and imminent danger to our integrity and life, that of our family and witnesses to the execution.”
They detailed that “on June 24, 26 and 27, we were victims of intimidation at our home by people living in our community” and that on July 8, they received a direct threat through Facebook, from an account called “ACATLÁN CON ADÁN”, which refers to the Municipal President of Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa, Adán Maciel Sosa. The threat expresses: “YOU FORGET WHAT HAPPENED KID. STOP FOOLING AROUND. YOU PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER LIKE A DUMBASS. PEOPLE DON’T WANT PROBLEMS BUT YOU KEEP MESSING WITH THE PATRON. DO NOT LOOK FOR ANY MORE PROBLEMS. LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED. BEST TO FORGET IT AND KEEP IT LOW. THIS WAY WILL BE BETTER FOR YOU. ”
For the same reason, they asked to the institutions for security, procuration and administration of justice and defense of human rights in the state of Oaxaca to investigate the threats, as well as to protect and guarantee their integrity and life. They also asked the Governor of Oaxaca, Alejandro Murat “to have a meeting soon to personally inform him of what is happening in our case.”
