On December 1st, the judge of the Second District of Federal Criminal Proceedings in the State of Mexico issued the formal prison order against Jose Angel Casarrubias Salgado, known as “El Mochomo”, one of the leaders of Guerreros Unidos, for his alleged participation in the disappearance of the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Normal School in Iguala in 2014.
Judge Maria del Socorro Castillo Sanchez issued the precautionary measure considering that the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) provided sufficient evidence to presume that Casarrubias Salgado participated in the attack on a vehicle where the students were traveling.
“El Mochomo” is currently in the El Altiplano maximum security prison, located in the municipality of Almoloya de Juarez, State of Mexico, where he was sent in September linked to a trial over organized crime.
