On January 25th, the Interior Secretary, Olga Sanchez Cordero, announced that the federal government had decided to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) against the person who is responsible for leaking part of the Ayotzinapa case file.

“It is very serious because it puts not only the investigation at risk, but it actually puts at risk the very life and integrity of several people who are related in this investigation and in this leak”, Sanchez Cordero said, when she led the morning press conference on behalf of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who tested positive for COVID-19.

It was last week that information from documents with statements about the case of the disappearance of the 43 student teachers from Ayotzinapa was leaked to the Reforma media.

Given theis fact, both civil society organizations and the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice for the Ayotzinapa case have ruled on the fact; “We regret the leaks of an ongoing investigation, as in the past we regret publications that took up this same information. There is concern about the damage this could do to the investigation. Our solidarity with the families for the pain that these leaks generate”, Tlachinollan , FUNDAR, SERAPAZ and the Prodh Center said in a statement.

“As we have pointed out, these types of leaks seek to demerit the work carried out in the investigation of the Ayotzinapa case; the credibility of the institutions that participate in it, and put at risk the truth about what happened on the night of September 26th, 2014 in the city of Iguala, Guerrero, as well as the integrity of the people who are part of these investigations”, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Alejandro Encinas Rodriguez, part of the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice for the Ayotzinapa case, explained.
