Chiapas: Panthelo Residents Prevent Bomb Attack

Residents of Pantelho reported that on September 18th they detained a young man who tried to set off a bomb in the municipal seat. First, the young man was identified for carrying a rifle and later they saw that he also had explosive material.

The residents notified the authorities, the Army and the National Guard, who arrested the person involved and seized the gunpowder and material with which it was intended to set it off.

According to the residents, when he was arrested, the young man said that “it was Daily’s order to use those bombs to regain the presidency.” He was referring to Daily Herrera, currently a fugitive, accused of violence and illicit business.

This is not the first time that “Los Herrera”, as the group headed by Daily de los Santos Herrera is called, has been linked to explosive devices: according to media sources, last July they used such devices to detain the self-defense groups who entered the Pantelho looking for them. One exploded and destroyed several houses, another claimed the lives of those who moved it out of town.
