Since September 27th last, indigenous Zoque inhabitants of Chimalapas installed a blockade on the Pan-American highway near La Ventosa to demand the delivery of municipal resources and to demand from the governor of Oaxaca, Alejandro Murat, “broad and clear information on the current situation of the constitutional controversy against the state of Chiapas.”
The inhabitants questioned the inaction of the Murat government in the matter of the controversy and assure that the jungle and forest of the Chimalapas continues to be deforested while those responsible take refuge in the uncertainty of the limits of this territory. They said that while Chiapas continues to press for the Supreme Court to rule on the sentence in its favor, the Oaxaca Legal Council “does nothing to defend the territory of Oaxaca.”
It should be noted that the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) lists the draft judgment of the constitutional controversy that the government of Oaxaca presented under pressure from the Zoque peoples since the beginning of this conflict.
On other issues, they took the opportunity to demand from the municipal president of San Miguel Chimalapa transparent information on the use and application of municipal funds since in two years there has been no work in the municipality despite having received federal resources that amount to some 16 million pesos.
Media reported that the blockade continues for the second day in a row, preventing the passage to Chiapas and Veracruz. The residents of the San Antonio and Benito Juarez congregations also joined the blockade of the ten communities.
