On December 2nd, the Good Government Council of Caracol 10, Patria Nueva denounced, through a statement, that on November 29th they registered the entry of 22 people from the “group of 40” into their territories to “take over the collective pasture of our Zapatista community Nuevo San Gregorio.”With hoes and picks they began to dig a 50 meter long ditch from the collective water well of the cattle, “in order to cause the water trough for their animals to dry up (…) and to continue invading more rebel territory.”
They said that these people “continue to harass us and invade our territories” and the government, which has only strengthened “the invasion and aggression”, has remained silent in the face of these acts of dispossession, actions of destruction that threaten the integrity and life of the people who resist and fight for life.
For this reason, “we hold the Municipal, State and National government responsible for what is going to happen to our groups, because being called Authorities they do not lift a finger before these attacks that our Zapatista compañeras and compañeros support bases are experiencing, they coincide with the acts committed by this group of people (…) the Mexican government does nothing to stop the invasions and aggressions that are spreading more and more.”
