On January 11th, the Fray Bartolome de las Casas Center for Human Rights (Frayba) reported on the situation of forced disappearance of four Zapatista support bases from the Caracol Patria Nueva in the municipality of Ocosingo.
In an Urgent Action, the Frayba denounced and condemned the attack against the 16 de Febrero autonomous community of the autonomous municipality Lucio Cabañas in Ocosingo perpetrated on January 10th around 1 p.m. According to the information received by the Good Government Council (JBG), around 15 armed persons entered the community forcing Mrs. Hilaria Hernandez Gomez and her three children to leave their house by beating them.
In an update, they stated that “Mrs. Hilaria Hernandez Gomez and her three children, Tomas Lopez Hernandez, three years old, the children Jeremias Lopez Hernandez, ten years old, and Julio Cesar Lopez Hernandez, six years old, have appeared alive” having been missing for several hours.
The Center also explained that at the end of the Urgent Action they had received the report “the armed group is positioned in the autonomous community, so there is a serious risk to the life, safety and integrity of the inhabitants”, such that it made a call for national and international solidarity and asked to demand the Mexican authorities stop these violent actions.
