On March 15th, a press conference was held at the Casa de los Pueblos and “Samir Flores Soberanes” indigenous communities to announce the “Caravan for Water and Life” that will take place from March 22nd to April 24th, 2022.
They reported that during this period, the more than 30 organizations, groups, towns and indigenous neighborhoods that they convene, will travel “a part of the geography of resistance in defense of water, territory and life” and will carry out various activities in them.
The Caravan, they announced, will depart from the Juan C. Bonilla municipality in Puebla, where Bonafont has a bottling plant, whose facilities had been taken over by residents and named “Altepelmecalli- La Casa de los Pueblos” and who were evicted last February by the National Guard.
“We are going to visit communities that fight against dispossession and looting in Puebla, Mexico City and State, Morelos, Guerrero, Tlaxcala, Queretaro, Veracruz and Oaxaca for more than 30 days, to join the demand the departure of the looting companies and destroyers of our territories.”
They also invited other struggles to join and share their experiences. “We are collecting the voice of the peoples and building a plan to defend water, territory and life together.”
