Guerrero/National: III Report of IGIE Reveals Information about “Ayotzinapa Case” Involving Army and Navy

@Milenio

On Monday, March 28th, the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (IGIE) of the IACHR, presented its Third Report with the findings of the investigations they have carried out into the disappearance of the 43 student teachers from Ayotzinapa.

On this occasion, the IGIE group composed of Alejandro Valencia, Angela Maria Buitrago, Claudia Paz y Paz, Francisco Cox and Carlos Martin Beristain, obtained evidence that rejects the “historical truth” and reveals that both the Army and the Navy were involved in the disappearance and manipulation of information for seven years.

The evidence collected indicates that the students of the “Isidri Burgos” Normal Rural School in Ayotzinapa had been under investigation for years; that there were SEDENA infiltrators inside the school; that four days before the disappearance, the Command of the 35th military zone ordered all the Guerrero battalions to follow the students; that the day everything happened, both police and military authorities maintained detailed monitoring of the students, including intercepting communications in real time; that this information was not shared with the authorities in charge of the search and investigation; that the army has indeed carried out investigations into the events, which it has denied and on which it has not shared information; that the record of the search for remains in the San Juan River is false and much more data indicates the State as the author of what happened in Iguala on the night of September 26th and early morning of September 27th, 2014.

“In this way, at the time of the events, the security authorities had two intelligence processes underway, one to monitor the actions of organized crime in the area and the other on the students who were preparing for the mobilization for October 2nd in Mexico City” “This is why it is so difficult to understand how and why that monitoring ceased at crucial hours, when the forced disappearance occurred.”

They also presented an unpublished video recorded by a drone from the Secretary of the Navy, in which elements of said institution are seen entering the Cocula dump (a key location of the 2014 investigation, and from where the so-called “historical truth” was constructed) and manipulating the scene, even lighting a fire.

“The explanation given is that the bonfire is set so that a drone, manned remotely and directed by coordinates, locates the point of interest, despite the fact that it had already located the garbage dump by means of coordinates. Shortly after which the packages that were in that area disappeared.”

The report also mentions that many of the testimonies of the investigations that led to the “historical truth” were obtained through torture, which damaged the legitimacy of the investigation and could have caused the loss of evidence and “was a way of hiding the fate of the students through a distorted version that closed the case and prevented the students from being really sought, and if possible, found.”
