With a march in which more than 500 people participated, the “September 26th Day of Struggle Is Not Forgotten” began in Guerrero, which will take place between June 6th and 16th, through different activities in Guerrero and Mexico City, to continue demanding the truth about the disappearance of the student teachers.
Students from the Raul Isidro Burgos normal rural school in Ayotzinapa and social organizations participated in this action, which, together with their relatives, denounced the stagnation in the investigation of this case that occurred in 2014, when students teachers who were on their way to Mexico City to participate in a demonstration for October 2nd were arrested and disappeared in Iguala.
According to the “historical truth” version given by the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, the students were detained and handed over to the Guerreros Unidos Cartel, which murdered and incinerated them in the Cocula garbage dump and threw the remains into the San Juan River, but this version was always questioned by the relatives of the victims and by the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts.
Hilda Leguideño, mother of Jorge Antonio Tizapa, representative of the Committee of Fathers and Mothers of the 43, affirmed that “definitely the threads of the investigation that can lead us to discover the truth and those responsible are found in the archive of the Mexican Army and therefore, we will not desist and we demand that the institution be thoroughly investigated.” The lawyer representing the families requested access to the file that is in the archives of the Navy, but his request was denied.
During this day, rallies will be held in Chilpacingo, Acalpulco and Iguala and finally they will go to Mexico City, where they have planned different activities, including a rally in front of the Attorney General’s Office on June 15.
