Thursday, November 10th, 2022, members of Las Abejas Acteal Civil Organization were in front of the offices of the Municipal Government of Chenalho, with the intention of publicizing the situation that different communities of that municipality are living through with a peaceful action and the reading of a statement.
They mentioned that just a few weeks before the 25th anniversary of the Acteal Massacre, human rights violations by the State in this territory have had no justice and continue. Likewise, they pointed out that due to their long struggle, they have been victims of criminalization and intimidation and even in some communities such as Campo Los Toros y Bach’en, water and electricity services have been cut off for families belonging to the organization This is why they called on the municipal president of Chenalho and competent authorities to resolve this matter.
“Today, as 25 years ago, a few days before the 25th anniversary of the cruel Acteal Massacre, we come here to the municipal capital of Chenalho, to warn the municipal president Abraham Cruz Gomez and his entire City Council, not to follow the example and path that his predecessor in the year 1997 took.”
