Guerrero: Protest To Demand Whereabouts of Three Missing Reporters

@ElPaís

On January 11th, journalists protested in Chilpancingo and Acapulco to demand that the federal and state governments intensify the search for journalist Jesus Pintor Alegre and the administrators of the Facebook page, Fernando Moreno and Alan Gracia.

Since December 26th, 2022, the administrators of the Escenario Calentarion website have been missing and a few days ago (January 7th, 2023) they appeared in a video on their own website. In it, they sat together and were handcuffed and shackled, stating that they would suffer the consequences of the publication against “these people”, presumably members of organized crime. In the video there was no trace of Pintor Alegre, a former correspondent for the newspaper La Jornada.

The communicators warned that in this recording that “Jesús Pintor Alegre does not appear, whose journalistic career is recognized throughout Guerrero for his work as a reporter, correspondent for different media and also for his inclination to write poetry.”

In the case of the journalist Pintor Alegre, still missing and kidnapped days later, there are still no clues, which is why media workers from Chilpancingo met in the Plaza de la Libertad de Expresion, where they read a statement asking the President of the Republic, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, and Governor Evelyn Salgado to do their part to find them.

“That is why today from this plaza, which is an achievement of the journalistic union, we demand the return home of the communicators… because they were taken away alive, we want them alive.”

Previous publications by Escenario Calentano have repeatedly criticized the criminal association La Familia Michoacana and accused mayors of the region of their alleged closeness to the criminal gang, so assumptions can be made about the kidnappers. Part of the most frequent accusations of Escenario Calentano refer to the alleged complicity of eight mayors of the Tierra Caliente region in Guerrero with La Familia Michoacana. In recent months especially, violent activities have worsened, especially in Guerrero and the State of Mexico.
