Members of the Union of Peopels and Organizations fromt he State of Guerrero (UPOEG) protested before the Electoral Institute of the State (IEEG) because that institution did not distribute information about the law that establishes that indigenous peoples can elect their own popular representatives by means of the uses and customs that rule in various municipalities of the state.  Bruno Plácido Valerio, one of the leaders, said that of the 81 municipalities in the state, 25 surpass having 40 percent of their populations being indigenous.  No political institution has suggested a candidate to any office of popular representation that be indigenous.
