Alba Cruz @ Fundar
On 13 April, the rights-defender Alba Cruz from the organization Committee for the Wholesome Defense of Human Rights Gobixta (Human Rights Code) received a death-threat on her cell phone. Human Rights Code and the Network of Civil Human Rights Organizations “All Rights for All” write in their urgent action that “One of the representatives of the defender is the union activist, ex-political prisoner, and victim of torture Marcelino Coache, who in the last half-year has faced several acts of labor harassment and a campaign of denigration against him for his participation in the social movement in Oaxaca. Reyna Rivera, the wife of Mr. Coache, has received a message to her cellular phone a few minutes after the message was sent to Ms. Cruz; the text says: ‘We warn you to remember or suffer the consequences; watch yourselves.'” Both messages came from the same number.
Both the defender Alba Cruz and the union organizer Coache and his family have been awarded precautionary measures by the IACHR, the former in this year, and Coache since 2009.
