On October 14th, the state delegation of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported on the seizure of an arsenal in the municipality of Frontera Comalapa, after a confrontation “between criminal groups”, without informing whether or not there were any wounded.
It reported that elements of the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) secured an anti-tank grenade and another 40-millimeter grenade launcher attachment, 410 functioning 7.62 caliber cartridges, 380 functioning 5.56 caliber cartridges, three 5.56 caliber magazines out of supply, an out of stock 7.62 caliber plastic magazine, three out of stock 5.56 metal magazines, four out of stock 7.62 metal magazines, a helmet and a bullet proof vest.
It explained that the operation took place after receiving an anonymous complaint that led the military to move to the vicinity of the Nuevo Villaflores ejido, municipality of La Trinitaria, but when they found the entrance blocked, “they toured of the surrounding towns on the Ciudad Cuauhtemoc-Comitan, at the height of the bridge that is located at the entrance of the San Gregorio Chamic ejido, in Frontera Comalapa.”
The Prosecutor’s Office finally declared that it is assembling an investigation file against who is responsible for the crime of violation of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.
