Chiapas: Bodies of Alleged Murderers of Journalist Fredy Lopez Arevalo Found

As reported by the Chiapas Prosecutor’s Office, the bodies of the alleged murderers of the journalist Fredy Lopez Arevalo, Jonathan “N” alias “El Moco” and Eder Ezequiel “N” alias “El Norteño”, were found inside the trunk of a vehicle in the municipality of Frontera Comalapa. It was explained that they were found on December 30th, 2021 and identified by relatives in the city of Comitan de Dominguez.

The murder of Fredy Lopez Arevalo occurred on the night of October 28th, 2021 as he arrived home in San Cristobal de Las Casas in Chiapas and was attacked by a man on a motorcycle who fired a firearm. Arevalo had a career as a journalist for more than 37 years and was general director of Revista Jovel in San Cristobal, in addition to working for various national and international media.

Since 2000, more than 145 journalists have been assassinated in Mexico, making it one of the most dangerous countries in the world for people who work in this sector.
