On August 6th, arrest warrants were issued for Daniel Camarena Flores, former head of the State Investigations Agency (AEI); Evencio Nicolas Martinez, former head of the then State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) and other commanders of that body, for their probable responsibility in the forced disappearance Edmundo Reyes Amaya and Gabriel Alberto Cruz Sánchez, members of the Popular Revolutionary Army (EPR) in May 2007.
The orders were issued by a federal judge in the state of Jalisco and executed by federal forces who transferred the detainees under high security to the facilities of the Jalisco Preventive Prison Police Station.
It should be remembered that, according to the new General Law on Forced Disappearance of Persons, in force since 2017, “a penalty of forty to sixty years in prison will be imposed” on persons who commit this crime.
