The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that it will accuse Enrique Peña Nieto and 16 other political players, such as the former Secretary of Finance, Luis Videgaray, and the PAN member Ricardo Anaya for the case of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht.
According to the latest reports from the Prosecutor’s Office, Peña Nieto would have played a key role in this plot along with Videgaray, whom the authorities have already denounced for “treason against the fatherland” for alleged bribery crimes worth 10.5 million dollars in exchange for contracts for Odebrecht. Now they can face sentences of up to 60 years in prison.
Both “through the former CEO of Pemex, Emilio Lozoya Austin, obtained resources from the Brazilian company Odebrecht”, with which they financed, for example, Peña Nieto’s campaign for the 2012 presidential elections and bribes in Congress for deputies and senators to endorse a constitutional reform in energy matters, reports the newspaper ‘Milenio’.
In addition, the FGR will also accuse the governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca, former PAN senators Ernesto Cordero Arroyo and Jorge Luis Lavalle, and the former director of the National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute, David Penchyna Grub.
