Chiapas: Armed Group Kidnaps 14 Workers from Secretary of Security

@ElMundo

On the afternoon of June 27th, 14 administrative workers from the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSyPC) of the state of Chiapas, were kidnapped by an alleged armed group.

The kidnapping occurred in the municipality of Ocozocoautla on the road to Tuxtla Gutierrez. A larger number of employees of this unit were traveling from a building located in the old Llano San Juan airport to the neighboring municipality of Ocozocoautla when they were intercepted and taken off their transport.

14 men were forced into another vehicle and taken to a place that the authorities had not located hours later. In a video recorded and published on social networks by motorists, it could be seen how a group carrying large-caliber weapons, dark uniforms, and traveling in different vehicles point firearms at a bus where SSyPC workers were traveling.

In a statement, the SSyPC indicated that “based on a report of assistance, a permanent operation was immediately established by air and by land with all the armed forces to find the whereabouts of our colleagues deprived of their liberty.”  In addition, they requested action from the authorities through family social networks of the kidnapped workers. Some of the kidnapped are people over 50 years of age.
