Oaxaca: Presumed killer of Brad Will is detained

On 23 May, authorities from the state of Oaxaca detained the presumed material author of the murder of U.S. journalist Brad Will, Lenin Emelio Osorio Ortega.  Bradley Roland Will was killed on 27 October 2006 in Santa Lucia del Camino, a neighboring municipality to Oaxaca City, when members of the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (APPO) had a confrontation with followers of the PRI mayor, Manuel Martínez Feria, as well as with Municipal Police.  According to the State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) of Oaxaca, the suspect was identified by means of videos and photos documenting the confrontation.  It should be remembered that in 2008, federal authorities exculpated Juan Manuel Martínez Moreno, an APPO member, for the crime, in a case that had seen him incarcerated for nearly two years, and then released in February 2010 for lack of evidence.
