Guerrero: 24th Anniversary of El Charco Massacre

@Tlachinollan

On June 7, 24 years after the El Charco massacre, the Committee of Widows and Survivors of said massacre held a rally at the head of the municipality of Ayutla de Los Libres, in which they demanded justice for the murder of 11 peasants at the hands of the military and punishment of the commanders who ordered the armed attack. He recalled that this attack also had a balance of 15 people tortured and 30 detainees who were arbitrarily locked up for more than 15 days in military barracks.

The participants in the rally claimed that of the 11 executions “there are no investigation records, there is no data that makes it possible to investigate who ordered that massacre, there are no records of the soldiers who participated in the massacre, cruelly and violently murdering 11 peasants that morning of June 7th in the community of El Charco. Until now the facts continue in total impunity.

In a bulletin, the Tlachinollan Mountain Human Rights Center also denounced that “24 years after the events, the indigenous communities survive in the same conditions: oblivion and misery.”
