On March 26th, eight and a half years after the disappearance of the 43 students from the “Raul Isidro Burgos” Normal Rural School in Ayotzinapa in Iguala, Guerrero, relatives and supporters held a mobilization demanding their appearance alive and returned to demand that the Army open its files to find out the fate of the youths.
In the 102 Global Action for Ayotzinapa, they held a march in Mexico City in which they stated that President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador “continues to make endless excuses and blames the ‘previous’ [governments] for the events, but the reality is that the Ayotzinapa case is not an isolated event, it is part of a pattern of corruption and repression that shows the tremendous impunity that prevails in these cases in our country to date.”
Similarly, they warned that they will not stop demanding that the responsible persons be punished “be they from any level of government if there are officials involved” and claimed that arrest warrants are not enough but that it is time to produce convictions.
