Oaxaca: judge concedes motion against wind-energy project in San Dionisio del Mar

On 7 December, a judge in the state of Oaxaca conceded the moti0n presented by the Ikojt community of San Dionisio del Mar against the development of a wind-energy park as promoted by the Spanish firm Mareña Renewables on their territory. Maribel González Pedro, spokesperson for the Assembly of Indigenous Peoples of the Isthmus in Defense of Land and Territory, said that although the motion still is not definitive (as it could be appealed), “[i]t is a serious victory in the struggle for the respect of territory and the rights of indigenous peoples.”
