On March 16th, during a rally in Iguala in the state of Guerrero, MORENA’s candidate for governor of the state, Felix Salgado Macedonio, pledged with the parents of the 43 disappeared Ayotzinapa students to help the federal government to solve the case.
It was the candidate’s first campaign rally. The mothers and fathers of the 43 expressed the following: “We salute you and express that our movement is independent of political parties and creeds and we are respectful of the forms of struggle. We have made the decision to summon the candidates for governor of the state of Guerrero who participate in this electoral process to demand that if they reach the state executive they commit to truth and justice and find the whereabouts of the students.”
They asked for a thorough investigation of the events and that all those involved, both material and intellectual, be punished, mentioning former Governor Angel Aguirro Rivero and his Attorney General, Iñaki Blanco Cabrera.
In response Felix Salgado promised “to help with the federal government to clarify the case; we are going to get to the truth.” “I promise that this will be the case, I am your ally, I share your feeling and your pain and consider me as a ruler who will be attentive, participating and supporting until we find the truth, until we find them, that is my commitment to you”, the candidate confirmed.
It is worth mentioning that the election of MORENA’s candidate in Guerrero has generated discussion at the national level due to the reports of rape and sexual abuse against him.
