Organizations, groups and individuals, Adherents to the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle, reported that they organized a Solidarity Caravan on October 29th for the autonomous communities of Moises Gandhi and Nuevo San Gregorio, to deliver humanitarian aid, carry out Human Rights observation and document recent attacks, threats and harassment perpetuated by armed groups against girls, boys, women and men from the Support Bases communities of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN).

At the request of the convening organizations, the International Service for Peace (SIPAZ) carried out international accompaniment and observation during the tour. Likewise the Fray Bartolome de Las Casas Center for Human Rights did Human Rights observation.

Since last year, these autonomous communities have suffered constant attacks on their lands, crops, houses and jobs. Added to this are the events that occurred on August 22nd, 2020 where autonomous facilities such as the Arcoiris store, the “Compañera Lucha” canteen and the coffee warehouses were burned, which constitute a guarantee of food and livelihood, in addition to firearm attacks on the community.

“We reiterate that our position is in favor of peace and we demand respect for the right to autonomy and free Zapatista self-determination where the reclaimed lands are located, which are part of their territory, as well as respect and guarantee for integrity, security and life of the EZLN Support Bases”, according to the statement from the caravan.
