With a cultural and political event at their headquarters (Cumbre Nachoj) on 24 June, the ejidatarios who adhere to the EZLN’s Sixth Declaration of the Lacandona Jungle in San Sebastián Bachajón recalled their comrade Juan Vázquez Guzmán, who was murdered this April. In a communique released with the end of commemoration in mind, as well as to launch the Week of Global Action “Juan Vázquez Guzmán lives, the struggle of Bachajón continues,” they denounced the Secretary of Governance, Noé Castañón, as the intellectual author of the murder of Vázquez Guzmán, emphasizing that they would continue to defend their territory. They also denounced that the new ejidal commissar had been imposed by previous ejidal authorities and the state government. The adherents to the Sixth Declaration also demanded the “immediate liberation of our comrade political prisoners Antonio Estrada Estrada, Miguel Vázquez Deara, and Miguel Demeza Jiménez, who have been unjustly incarcerated,” finding the government guilty of having fabricated crimes in these cases.
